About GlassPaperScizzors

Mickey Saverine
Owner, Maker, Designer, Curator
Hi! I'm Mickey Saverine. I create unique decoupage plates from antique naturalist botanical prints which i border with papers I design. Each plate is hand crafted by me in my Norwalk, CT studio. They make lovely wall hangings for custom home decor.

The art of Decoupage is Alive and Well!

ABOUT MY ETSY SHOP:

My Etsy Shop, Glass Paper Scizzors (with z’s!) sells hand-crafted decoupage plates. I use the old-fashioned paper and glue method of application. I digitally enhance antique images and design the colorful border papers to complement them. I do all of the work myself in
my home studio in Connecticut.
My Etsy decoupage plate shop is the result of many months of trial and error, testing and perfecting. It’s beginning was somewhat of an accident.
I never actually planned to open a crafts business. My original intention was to create something beautiful for my own pleasure and to share with friends.

Etsy turned out to be the ideal place to reach a wider audience. I opened my shop in August, 2011.

I began four years ago when my very “crafty” friend Beth suggested a decoupage project for our annual Christmas get-together.

We both had been admiring and collecting decoupage plates since the early 90’s and figured “ How hard could this be? “ it’s just glass paper and glue!

In a word, it was a disaster! Much trickier and time consuming than we’d ever imagined. But I was inspired to teach myself the process. For the next 9 months all I did was experiment with the decoupage process.

I didn’t want to make plates like those I had already seen; I wanted my plates to be original, have their own shape, images and border designs.

By the following Christmas I found myself with enough plates to participate in local holiday craft shows, Junior League, school and church events.

Most recently, My husband, who does custom framing, suggested putting my square plates in a variety of beautifully chunky designer moldings. This creates a multi-dimensional effect that adds to their uniqueness.

About PinaraDesign

N. Pinar Kamaci
Owner, Maker, Designer, Curator
I have two university degree; Printing Technology and Fine Arts as a Graphic Designer. My parents are artists as well so creativity runs in the family. Art is always in my life. I am a wife to a wonderful man and mother of a male cat.

"Colors and history feed me for create unique designs. I feel so lucky for living nearby history and art."

15 years ago I began to make my own jewelry. For years I have researched about Anatolian history, Turkish lace, vintage crochets, semiprecious stones, authentic fabrics... People around me began to encourage me to share my designs with the world. After my husband and I left our jobs and lives in fast paced Istanbul we decided moved to the seaside city of Antalya in southern Turkey and opened our Etsy shop. This is when my colorful journey begins.

We love Antalya because it's a beautiful city nearby Mediterranean Sea where history and nature come together seamlessly.

There are amazing historical sites around Antalya. Many ancient civilizations have been here including Lycia, Hittite, Pamphylia, Byzantine, Seljuk, Ottoman ... We explore these ancient sites and draw upon their inspiratıon. Also we search for different Turkish traditional fabrics which are slowly being forgotten. I think we have much to learn from ancient history and art that is around us.

Our intention is revive some forgotten designs of the past by using eco-friendly materials on jewelry and scarves. Diversity of Anatolian history and artistic creations are giving me the opportunity for using different techniques and materials. There is a historical tale behind each and every design such as techniques like crochet, screen print, wire wrap, transfer print.

I love creative process and researching; matching colors and combine them with different motifs. I feel that I am still growing and learning more with each of my designs. Each of my designs are one of a kind or produce in small batches to preserve the fun of wearing something unique and are made with lots of love and lots of care.

Little about process
* Visiting ancient cities, historical places and museums
* My husband takes photos of ancient motifs, sculptures and frescos.
* I stylize them and prepare them for screen printing or jewelry design.
* My husband takes photos of Pinara products.
* I prepare and print special certificates for attach every single Pinara Design products that includes information about these ancient work of arts

Voila, your Pinara item is ready to pack and go :)

What's the meaning of Pinara?
Often people ask me that there is any relationship between my name Pınar and Pinara. In fact, these two words look like similar but they are totally different words. Pınar means 'fountain' in Turkish language. Pinara means 'round' in the ancıent Lycia language and it's the name of a beautiful Lycia site in the Mediterranean region of Turkey. It was settled around 5th century BC in the Xanthus valley and one of the important cities of the Lycia Federation. Its name references apparently to the rounded shape of the precipitous hill on which the city originally stood.

Thank you so much for reading my story. I hope my work brings a smile to your face.

About BLintonPhotography

Becky Linton
Owner
Wife, Mother, Photographer, Artist/Crafter, Traveler, Vintage Lover, Foodie

I feel blessed to have found what I truly love, and am happy to be able to share it!

I have always been making things and knew that one day I wanted to sell what I was creating. From an early age, my mom set this example for me. She was an original mompreneur. Once I got a digital camera, I knew I had found my true bliss, and there was no turning back!

Photography has been a part of my life since my teen years. I took my first photography class in high school, in the early eighties. I continued with more classes in college and spent many hours in the dark room. It was always exciting to put a piece of paper in a chemical bath and watch an image slowly appear. The process is different now, but I still love seeing a photo "develop".

I enjoy taking photos of our natural world and exploring natural light. There is so much beauty to be found. For me, nowhere is this truer, than at the beach. Having grown up on a small island in Alaska, I spent many hours on the beach, and being near the ocean is a part of who I am. Now that I live in the Pacific Northwest, I still spend many hours at the beach with my husband and two daughters. The Pacific Northwest is truly a unique place, with its many inlets, islands and miles of beaches.

While at the beach, I can't help filling my pockets with beautiful shells and stones and collecting beach glass and pieces of driftwood. I have jars and baskets filled with these treasures, and I love using them as subjects in my photos.

Having this Etsy shop is a dream come true. I love everything about it: taking the photos and processing them, packaging them to send to customers and making my shop a place people want to visit.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

~Becky

About MiriHardyPottery

Miri Hardy
Owner, Maker, Potter
Everything you'll find in my shop was made with my own two hands, in my studio in Puerto Rico. My husband Nick is my CPO (Chief Packing Officer), and all credit for the VERY careful packing to assure that your pots travel safely to you goes to him!

Fun, Functional & Unique Pottery for Him, Her & You!

I vividly remember watching a potter throw on the wheel when I was but 5 years old. Such magic I had never seen! Fast forward to my grad school years, when I desperately needed a non-academic diversion. Fate would have it, I came across a catalog from the local adult education center. Pottery classes! Just the magic I needed. And I was hooked!

After years of working with clay as a hobby, pottery has recently become my full time vocation. The magical nature of it all, if anything, seems stronger these days. For the journey from lump of clay to a finished, functional piece of pottery is NOT a quick one. Wedge the clay, throw the clay, trim the clay, dry the clay, fire the clay, glaze the clay, then fire yet again. Wondrous changes and transformations happen at every step of the way!

One of the MOST magical moments is raising the lid of my electric kiln after the glaze firing to see the results of weeks of labor. My husband Nick (who not only carefully packs all our shipments but is also in charge of our physical gallery and keeping our records) LOVES this part of the process too! In fact, he has yet to miss a single glaze opening! Potters will tell you this moment is like Christmas morning. I think its even better, 'cuz you don't have to wait until December AND it happens more than once a year!

There is something very special about using a handmade piece of pottery and nothing pleases me more than hearing back from folks who purchased my work about how they have incorporated my pottery into their own daily lives.

I hope you too find some magic in my Etsy shop!

--Miri

About Dalfia

Daniela Alfia
Owner, Maker, Designer, Curator

The Bag

Hello!
My name is Daniela. I am the designer behind Dalfia bags, married to Doron and mother of two girls – Daria and Avishag (twins...). and we all love our dog, Lisa – the heart of the family.
We live in Modiin, a new and modern city between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. I work in my home studio, and usually my first judges are my daughters and my husband (sometimes Lisa says something as well, but its hard to understand exactly what she means…) So, I can say, I am getting an immediate feedback on what I create!

I am designing and making bags for 3 years now. It happened to me suddenly and unexpectedly. I love to shop – clothes, bags, shoes and more, and more … I like unique designs and outstanding quality, sometimes it is expensive, sometimes it is not– I surely know how to find something precious in a huge pile of rubbish!! In my last job I was flying abroad 5-6 times a year for short periods of time. And it meant shopping, shopping and more shopping! And on a trip to Greece, I came across this shop (don’t remember the name, just that she was about 5 feet wide) and there he was – The Bag (Its no mistake – I call it he because he means a lot to me). I pulled him off the shelf, paid about 700$ ant he was mine!…After I took him to my room, hugged and stroked him, A thought flashed in my mind – this is the last one that I am buying! I am starting to make bags by myself, for me!!!

As soon as I came back home, I took my first course in designing bags (it cost me about the same amount as The Bag) and didn’t stop taking courses, workshops and learning about leather and bags since then!! I learned from the best teachers in Israel (thank you, Ellen Ruben, my first teacher, and to you – Eli Ben Hamo, master that works with Hermes, Lancel and other famous companies in the world). I went to England to learn from Valerie Michael (UK guru) handstitch and work with vegtanned leather. And it didn’t end yet…

That bag –The Bag, is still on the shelf in my studio as in the museum. He symbolizes for me a turning point in my life, when finally I can say what I want to do when I’ll grow up! (I am turned 40 few months ago – good age to become a grownup girl!) Its also symbolizes the end of searching – I have learnt so many things in my life: carpeting design, painting, interior design, sewing, lace, jewelry design and philosophy!
And finally, here I am – designing leather bags and accessorize!
Hope to see you in my shop and hope you like what you see and will find something for yourself or your loved ones,
Daniela
